SHERRATT OPTICIANS

EYE CARE

At Sherratt Opticians we can provide all types of eyecare appointment.
A standard eye examination is government funded for many patients, including children.
Private eye examinations include retinal photography, and NHS patients can add this too.
You can choose to include OCT 3-D imaging to your eye test at an additional fee.
All patients can expect professional eyecare with time taken to explain the tests and results,
and to give personalised advice.

CHILDREN

child

We are happy to see young people of all ages, and yes, children can have an eye test before they learn to read!
It is important to know that a child has good vision in each eye, and that the eyes work well together.
Eye health and colour vision will be checked too.
A child’s vision continues to develop until the age of twelve, so regular tests during childhood are recommended.
Any problems can be detected, and monitored or helped with glasses, contact lenses or eye exercises.
Remember that children often don’t mention a problem with seeing – they assume that everyone’s eyes are like theirs.

OCT SCAN

An OCT scan gives us a 3-D image of the eye. So the health of the cornea, retina and optic nerve can be checked more thoroughly.

It only takes a few minutes and no drops are needed.

Recommended and proven for detecting and monitoring glaucoma and AMD, and other eye conditions.

DRY EYE

Sherratt Opticians Crewe Cheshire

Dry eye is a problem that affects more people than ever. Symptoms can include soreness, blurred vision and watering (yes, watering!).

There are several factors which can cause dry eye, and various treatments which can be done at home as part of your daily routine. Sometimes using comfort drops is the answer, but we also recommend cleansing wipes and heat therapy for patients with ‘blepharitis’.

Your eyelids and tears should work together to moisten and cleanse the front surface of the eyes. But if the tear fluid is reduced, sticky or thin and watery, irritation can occur. If you wear contact lenses, they may become less comfortable and your eyes may look red.

We know that using devices like mobile phones reduces the frequency of blinking, and this can cause dry eye because the oil producing glands in the eyelid don’t work as well.
